Launch of the Rapariga Biz mentor training in Nampula

Moma District, Nampula Province

Under the initiative of the Rapariga Biz program, yesterday, in the district of Moma, Province of Nampula, training of 1000 new mentors began, coordinated by the Coalizão Association. Training will also begin this week in the districts of Angoche and Mogovolas, also in the province of Nampula.
 
 
The mentors are at the heart of the Mozambican-led "Rapariga-Biz" initiative, supported by the United Nations (UNFPA - leader, UNICEF, UNESCO and UN Women) and funded by Sweden. After the training, each mentor will select 30 girls and young women between the ages of 10-24 and will identify a safe space in their community to hold weekly sessions for a period of 4 months on issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, social participation, life skills, etc.
 
During the opening ceremony, Moma Administrator, Mr. Chale Issufo, among others, encouraged the new mentors to seek maximum knowledge and skills to help reduce premature marriage, teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and dropping out of school.
